Trialed For Success All Season
The Ball Container Solutions designers create a high-end look using a balance of seed and vegetatively produced products. Their recipes must be carefree for the end consumer – their success is your success! To that end, they choose designs to perform the entire season and source products from Ball Seed’s network of regional suppliers as much as possible.
- Containers are planted outdoors in West Chicago, Illinois, the first week of June.
- 1801 trays and 4.5" pots are used depending on genetic. Some gallon pots or larger are used for tropicals.
- The containers are monitored from start to finish with photography taken mid-July.
- For a true test, they are at the mercy of the elements – heat, cold, rain, insects, etc.
- They are pruned by the Container Solutions team infrequently – no extreme care by design – for a real-life simulation.

Ball Seed maintains over nine acres of garden for our industry partners and customers to visit throughout the summer. It is a living catalog of what’s new! Ball Seed Customer Day is the last Thursday and Friday of July, and there are live demonstrations from our Container Solutions team that generate fresh designs with new and exciting genetics. Their presentation includes tips on how they perform in containers and how best to market them at retail.
